Signing business documents remotely

I haven’t been posting much recently because I’ve been out of the office on business travel.  A lot of business travel.

Eight weeks in a row to be precise.  Good thing I love business travel, huh?

I’ve also been preparing to find a new place to live at the end of the year.  As you may already know moving requires  signing paperwork, a LOT of  paperwork, including leases, applications, and utilities.  I’ve been managing most of this stuff from the road via a variety of communications tools and technologies including my mobile phone, email, fax machine and FedEx delivery.

My wife and I have had to fill out various and sundry joint applications and individual verifications, quite often while we are in different parts of the country.   It’s been interesting to say the least, and more than vexing at times.   This is an opportunity that technology has not yet solved.

In some of my precious spare minutes, I was wandering the web looking at options for doing electronic signatures and learned there is some good information on the legalities of E-Signatures in the insurance industry and a software solution available from Silanis.    I thought this information might of interest to the HR practitioners who read the blog.   Maybe realtors and real estate management companies could put a similar product to work as well.  It would make the life of road warriors like me a lot simpler when trying to engage in long distance life transactions!

Thanks for sharing those links on electronic signatures, its something which on the surface seems so helpful, yet organizations seem so anti adopting this technology. Perhaps one day the paperless office that was supposed to arrive in the 90′s will become a reality for the majority.
