What you say matters
There are a million ways to create a buzz kill in the workplace. Many of them involve short and pithy negative clichés like:
- Because that’s the way we do it.
- We’ve tried that before.
- They’ll never go for that.
Rock the boat
As managers, there are certain tools for which we have unlimited budgets. You should take advantage of them as often as possible. There is no down side, no risk, and rewards will pile up over time.
Too good to be true? Not really. All you have to do is remember three short phrases.
- Thank you!
- Great job!
- I’m sorry that happened. Let me make it right. ( This one works equally well with employees and customers!)
