Driving for Dummies – Humor and Opportunity

No Excuses

Today is the day I am completing a course in Defensive Driving under a Florida statute that allows you to avoid points on your record by taking the class and paying a small fee.  It is a good deal for the occasional bad driver, helping keep your car insurance costs down.  I got nabbed on Florida Highway 60, going too fast, trying to get home from a speaking gig in South Florida.    Kind of takes the advantage of speaking fees out of play.

Anyway, I am taking a virtual driving course called the Improv Traffic School that combines a variety of multimedia training, including their own videos from comedians and YoutTube videos to drive the learning points home.  It is an excellent example of how the Internet and multimedia can be used to craft computer based training opportunities in-house at a fairly low cost.   Imagine HTML pages, flip cam videos, YouTube, and embedded PDFs.   Not expensive, yet effective.
