Posting this on behalf of Jason Seiden:

Mike, I'd argue that if you left frustrated, then something magic did happen: you lost the blissful feeling that a magic bullet is just around the corner and came to terms with exactly what\'s required to change the industry. It's an event I call a Moment of Clarity. It hurts like hell, and it\'s an inevitable step on the road to success.

I genuinely appreciate your feedback. It was great seeing you in person and hope we have the chance to talk again soon...

Yours,
Jason

Mike,

I didn't feel that way at all about there being no place for consultants. It just struck me as odd the lack of actual corporate HR people at the event. Many of us are consultants which is fine and there was also a large number of those who are looking for work (also fine).

These two groups in general are more open to the HR social media community and the conversation being that we do not have to worry about corporate politics, red tape, and can better be ourselves.

I didn't get that impression from your post at all but thanks for considering it.

P.S. we'll talk more at Summer Camp! :)

@Jessica

I hope it is clear that I don't believe that there is no place for consultants in this process, just the opposite in fact. Hell, I have personal aspirations for getting OUT of the practitioner role, but I won't quit the business, any more than you have.

I just think the real evolution of HR has to take place in the work places of our industry, and I think HR has a real opportunity to help lead that, so I want to see true practitioners be more engaged tnan many currently are.

Thanks for sharing your view.
