That congested feeling

This is a busy social media month here at HRH world headquarters in beautiful Tampa.   In the last week, I have:

• done a pair of panel presentations for Jobing as a part of their Recruitment Symposium series
• worked with the planning team preparing for launch of what may be the first ever official internet holiday which was started here in Tampa,  Foursquare Day.
• been interviewed by Edward Phillipp who is c0-writing  a book with Warren Whitlock called Profitable Social Media which will showcase the best stories and case studies of actual businesses that are using social media to make a real impact on their business.  You can listen to the interview here.

Today, I have a meeting with the fine folks at HR Florida, where we will be finalizing plans for the 2010 state conference, and later in the evening, I’ll be on HR Happy Hour for a very cool show on doing HR in a solo shop along with a few members of my Blogging Team here at HR Florida.  And that is this week!

Coming up: TRU USA

But an event is coming up that I am really looking forward to attending.  That is TRU USA, which is part of series of global unconference events operated by the TRU crew (who will also be presenting at HR Florida!).   TRU USA will take place April 19-20th in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin.  I will be a Track  Leader at the event, and am really looking forward to some serious discussion and learning on these topics:

• Candidate Experience – How important is the candidate experience now & in the future? How do the candidates view the experience they have when applying for jobs via third party recruiters, corporate recruiters, HR or job boards? What is the candidate experience once they get past the application stage? What’s the best way to manage the process & handle both the good and the bad news delivery?
• Future of HR – Is HR finally dead – or is it experiencing a resurrection?  What is the function of HR?  How far should the discpline reach into an organization and can HR really influence culture and strategy?  And how can the function develop to be operationally effective.
• Battle of the Bloggers – You won’t want to miss this!   There are many benefits to running a well read blog but skill and discipline are needed to build a community around it and to generate real benefit for business or an enhancement of employer as well as personal brand. Since #trulondon there has been a noticeable uptake in blogging in the sector, attend the track and join the crowd!
