Super Bowl Sunday

Today is Super Bowl Sunday. Like lots of other people, I will be watching as the game unfolds in Miami. I will be rooting for the Indianapolis Colts since I spent a decade living in Indiana. I won’t mind if the New Orleans Saints win though, since New Orleans is an amazing, but troubled city, and they could use the benefits that often come to a city that wins a championship.  So I will be good either way.

HR NASCAR Sunday

Next Sunday, I will be going to the Daytona 500 and attending an HR VIP experience along with nearly 100 HR people, courtesy of the job Board Orlando Jobs.  I will be joined by Jenny DeVaughn of Social Precision, and Robin Eads of the I’m Just a Goyle blog.   We will be live blogging from the race in the Pit Road Patio and exploring the benefits of the facility as a venue for employee outings, a training center, and some other interesting angles.   I’m looking forward to the event.  I am  also looking forward to the opportunity to get an insider perspective on both NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway while I am there.

In the interest of full  disclosure, I am receiving three guest passes from Orlando Jobs to attend the event.   Despite this sponsorship, there are no restraints on what I write about, nor any implied endorsement.    My thanks to Roger Lear for his generosity, and the chance to attend what promises to be an exciting and unique event.

I’ll leave you with the text from the ad that Orlando Jobs is using to promote their event.

Excitement!

That is what the DAYTONA 500 is! Here is your chance to join over 150,000 of your fellow Americans for the Great American Race, but it is more than the race.

Arrive early to beat the crowd, explore the 20 acres of corporate displays and then get yourself to the Sprint FANZONE to relax, have a beverage, get in line for the most stunning pre-race show on the NASCAR circuit.  After all this is Daytona International Speedway and you are right in the middle of it all.

Picture yourself perched right over pit road for refreshments and great conversation with fellow colleagues. Then the pre-race show starts with NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers being introduced just feet from you.  The pre-race show fires up to tunes of Tim McGraw and ends in thunderous applause as we pay tribute to our men and women in the military and every American with the National Anthem…capped off with a flyover unlike anything you have ever seen.

As you file back to your Pit Road Patio you think you have had a full day…but then those famous words, “Drivers Start Your Engines” are delivered and 43 race cars roar to life…as the 52nd DAYTONA 500 takes the green flag and you are there!
