The On-line HR Community
I want to give a hug shout-out to the entire community of human resources people who share their time and knowledge so generously.
I have encountered so many people in 2009 that it is difficult to acknowledge all of you. The amount of time we spend talking may ebb and flow, but the relationships are lasting. I appreciate them all, and work hard every day to keep them as worthwhile for you as they have been for me.
There is a list of people I would like to thank more personally. (without regard to their digital status!)
My Personal Influencers List for 2009
Laurie Ruettimann gets the first spot on my list. I value Laurie for her mind, her humor, and her total fearlessness when it comes to putting herself out there, and asking the tough questions.
Alicia Arenas has been a great supporter, and a pleasure to know. Alicia is always encouraging and supportive. I have learned a lot from about branding and about thinking about the work I do here as a business enterprise, not just a hobby.
Michael Long for being a great connector, and for doing an great job of getting the blog moved over to WordPress.
Mark Stelzner for being a great example as a writer, a critical thinker, a philanthropist, and a cynic!
Kris Dunn and Jessica Lee for all they have done to help me out this year.
Stephanie A. Lloyd for being a great role model in the social media/HR area.
Frank Roche for being the writer I want to be.
Franny Oxford for her smile and her curiousity, and her terrific thinking.
Bill Boorman for spanning the globe.
Trish McFarlane and Steve Boese for everything they do, and for being part of my blogging team for HR Florida this year!
William Tincup because who wouldn’t want to be William Tincup for a day??? He also does some really nice work sharing thoughts with his blog!
Lance Haun for being the smartest guy in the room almost every day. He sets the bar. I just try to keep up.
Everybody at Recruiting Blogs for being role models on how to build an awesome HR related business through social media.
and finally, China Gorman for leading the charge into social media at SHRM, and for being so supportive of my work this year!

@Steve – the writing of all these lists may be silly, but it is a nice a way to let people I value know that. Appreciate your kind words, and hope you have a great holiday season!

Back at ya, brother. It’s been a good year, and your 7 HR Types was my fave article this year. I’m writing that up now.

@Frank Roche Look forward to seeing that. I plan to do more with the 7 types in 2010. Hope we get to connect in person as well.

@Laurie
I’ll bump you down on my 2010 list. I am thinking of making Penelope Trunk my top influencer for next year. It’s either her or Kim Kardashian. I haven’t decided yet. I am keeping youwhere you are for this year. Good luck on your upcoming SHRM test! Happy Holidays!
It’s an honor to know you Mike! Have a fantastic New Year!!!
