Help me punch Jon Ingham’s record in the face!
A few months ago, Jon Ingham established a modern day record for having the most contributions to the Carnival of HR with more than 50 people participating. Now Jon is given me some good natured kidding about whether or not I can reach my goal of getting 100 contributions to the 11/25 Carnival of HR, which I have unofficially dubbed the HR Carnival of Global Giving for my hosted spin on the Merry-Go-Round.
What is the HR Carnival of Global Giving?
Quite simply, it is my effort to do something a little different with the Carnival concept for the holiday season. So far, support has been great.
The idea is very simple. If you want to participate, I am asking the following:
- I am encouraging participation from HR bloggers all over the world.
- Send me a post related to human resources, recruiting or training that you have written in the past two weeks
- Send me the name and the URL of your favorite charity
- I will personally contribute $1 per post contributed up to a maximum of 100 posts to one of the charities submitted. Selection will be made randomly from all those submitted.
So far, I have received thirty contributions to this little social initiative. It has also inspired at least 4 blog posts, including this one, and this one. You can see the others in my Carnival post which will be out on Wednesday.
Be a contributor!
Most importantly, it has inspired a great deal of generosity within the HR community. Several people including Susan Burns, Mark Stelzner, Tammy Colson, Joan Ginsberg, Kris Dunn, Steve Boese, and Karla Porter have all agreed to provide additional support to my own contribution. I do, and maybe someone else will beat us both before then! This is for a good cause though. Raised about $800 for donations somewhere!
