Becoming a Contributor

Help me punch Jon Ing­ham’s record in the face!

A few months ago, Jon Ing­ham estab­lished a mod­ern day record for hav­ing the most con­tri­bu­tions to the Car­ni­val of HR with more than 50 peo­ple par­tic­i­pat­ing.   Now Jon is given me some good natured kid­ding about whether or not I can reach my goal of get­ting 100 con­tri­bu­tions to the 11/25 Car­ni­val of HR, which I have unof­fi­cially dubbed the HR Car­ni­val of Global Giv­ing for my hosted spin on the Merry-Go-Round.

What is the HR Car­ni­val of Global Giving?

Quite sim­ply, it is my effort to do some­thing a lit­tle dif­fer­ent with the Car­ni­val con­cept for the hol­i­day sea­son.    So far, sup­port has been great.

The idea is very sim­ple.  If you want to par­tic­i­pate, I am ask­ing the following:

1. I am encour­ag­ing par­tic­i­pa­tion from HR blog­gers all over the world.
2. Send me a post related to human resources, recruit­ing or train­ing that you have writ­ten in the past two weeks
3. Send me the name and the URL of your favorite charity
4. I will per­son­ally con­tribute $1 per post con­tributed up to a max­i­mum of 100 posts to one of the char­i­ties sub­mit­ted.  Selec­tion will be made ran­domly from all those submitted.

So far, I have received thirty con­tri­bu­tions to this lit­tle social ini­tia­tive.   It has also inspired at least 4 blog posts, includ­ing this one, and this one.  You can see the oth­ers in my Car­ni­val post which will be out on Wednesday.

Be a contributor!

Most impor­tantly, it has inspired a great deal of gen­eros­ity within the HR com­mu­nity.  Sev­eral peo­ple includ­ing Susan Burns, Mark Stelzner, Tammy Col­son, Joan Gins­berg, Kris Dunn, Steve Boese, and Karla Porter have all agreed to pro­vide addi­tional sup­port to my own con­tri­bu­tion.  Right now, we have more than $650 to donate.   Addi­tional con­tri­bu­tions are wel­come.   Please send your post and char­ity infor­ma­tion to me via email at michael.vandervort@gmail.com
