I love me some HR Happy Hour!
It was a bucket of awesome fun to do the special Halloween edition of HR Happy Hour last night! Here are some of the things I learned.
- Talking about the death of human resources is a lively topic for an internet radio show.
- Lance Haun is a freakin’ genius!
- China Gorman said ” Tata” on the radio.
- Human Resources is still alive and lively. And apparently so is David Cassiday.
- The Partridge Family is a timeless band whose music cuts across the generational divide. However, everybody seems to think that David Cassidy is actually named “Keith Partridge”. Help David get his 1974 live album Cassidy Alive released by signing the petition!
- Human Resources peeps are rapidly becoming geeks, using tools like twitter and Google Wave to discuss important and timely issues, (or the be snarky which I love!) and to archive them to be shared and enjoyed by others later in an asynchronous manner.
Personally, I am over the death of HR. It never died. From here on out, it is all good HR all the time for me! *
* This may be a slight exaggeration and I officially reserve the right to change my mind on a mere moment’s notice. You will know it right after I do!

@MikeVanDervort Morning. How are you doing on this Friday am?

Mike – thanks very much for appearing on the show last night, and for posting the archive here for your readers. It was a really lively and interesting discussion, and I hope you enjoyed coming on. HR is not ‘dead’, but it in many cases needs to do more, better, and smarter than before and I hope that at least that point comes across on the show.

@Steve – I think that was the major point of the show last night. HR people are still passionate about what we do. It isn’t dead, and sometimes it is a frustrating field. It is also an immensely rewarding and challenging one.
There are a lot of smart (and smart assed) people out there hustling to make it better. Can’t fix it in an hour, but stuff like the show last night sure ae part of the cure!
