I have a couple of slides I use in my presentations that show the roots of today's technologies in the 1990s, as well as showing them that tools they're already comfortable with (including email) are examples of social media. My bottom line: it's new ways of doing old things - and it's not as foreign as people think! The company I work for already has a pretty big SoMe footprint so I can't offer suggestions in that context. Instead I focus on HR pros, particularly through SHRM Connect. We have to step-up in terms of embracing social media as an effective business tool; where better to start than with SHRM? Once I make a connection I point them to the 'Social Media for HR' group (started by the HR Bartender, Sharlyn Lauby). It's a good way to introduce newcomers to this subject.
