End of Days
What a week. Today is my last day at the Disney Institute, and the time I have spent here has been a wonderful experience.
Disney Institute Leadership
The highlight was dinner last night at the Grand Floridian with several executives from the Disney Institute and a really savvy team of HR/social media players. We spent three hours in a wide ranging business discussion, exchanging opinions, viewpoints and observations on the “Business Leadership” open enrollment course presentations, business models, content and numerous other ideas. I can’t discuss specifics regarding topics, but it was an amazing evening. Major kudos to the leadership at the Disney Institute for embracing this kind of interaction with Subject Matter Experts and social media.
Here are some of my thoughts on being part of the first social media team ever invited to work with the Disney Institute.
- The Disney Institute leadership was totally open and receptive to comments of any kind. They were just as open to criticisms as they were to compliments.
- They were seriously engaged, sharing information openly and commenting on the various observations shared by our team.
- Even more importantly, they asked questions and asked us to share our opinions and ideas on topics not directly related to the class. This level engagement was key to making the entire event highly successful.
This was an experiment by Disney to gain a different perspective on the products they offer from subject matter experts. There was also a promotional opportunity and exposure through the social media angle. As participants, we benefited from experiencing the course offerings, and the exposure for our blogs. It felt like a mutually rewarding experience.
Subject Matter Experts
The Disney Institute HR/Social Media blogging team consisted of:
- Mark Stelzner of the Inflexion Point blog
- Yasha Stelzner
- Alicia Arenas of Sanera PDC
- Michael Long aka The Red Recruiter
Check out their posts from Disney, and search the hashtag #DisneyI to check out everything that was tweeted!
I’ll end with a special thanks to Stacey Thomson, PR Manager at Disney Institute for making this entire thing possible. Well done, and let’s do it again sometime!
